In America The early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the category of child prodigies. A child of Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in sports when she was a young. This natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. That was apparent that she was the winner of every Feis for drama and theater the Irish had to offer. In the age of 14she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing as well as classical theater.
