Annie Lennox

Annie Lennox is a Scottish born and bred singer. She was born on the 25th of December in 1954, at Aberdeen. Dorothy Farquharson was her mother and Thomas Allison Lennox was her father. Lennox studied flute, piano and harpsichord at the Royal Academy of Music London for three years in the 70s. Lennox lived on the student allowance, and relied off on a part-time job to supplement her funds. While in the Royal Academy Lennox was dissatisfied with her skill compared to her student classmates and contemplated a possible alternative direction she would take. Lennox started her professional career in 1976 as a member of the group called Dragons Playground. The group did not appear on the talent contest New Faces on I.T.V. Between 1977 and the year 1980 she was the vocalist in The Tourists. A British pop band from the UK. In this band, she met Dave Stewart who would later form Eurythmics. Lennox started working for Diva in 1992. This was her debut album as a solo artist. This album became a huge success with regard to selling and critical acclaim.
